The May Dance is a modern version of an ancient tradition and celebrates the beginning of summer. Since the canonization of Abbess Walburga around 870 AD, it has been celebrated on the eve of her name day on May 1st.

For many years, the “Love Your Enemies” initiative, supported by the Friends of Mauerpark e.V., the Mauerpark Cultural Community, the District Office, Grün Berlin, numerous artists, and residents, has strived for a peaceful and creative Walpurgis Night in Mauerpark.

The focus is not on consumption, but on communal experience and participation. The motto for the festival is therefore quite simple: JOIN IN!

Traditionally, we express our wishes for peace at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater. Our circle is open to everyone.

The police and the District Office have permitted us to have a supervised fire. Please treat the fire and the fire artists with respect and maintain the necessary safety distance.

The festival continues until after midnight. From 1:00 a.m. onwards, please be extra considerate of the residents and allow them their night’s rest.
