It is important for Berlin\u2019s borough of Pankow but at the same time it enjoys worldwide fame and popularity.<\/p>\n<p>The site where the Berlin Wall used to be &#8211; where armed guards with orders to shoot once kept people apart &#8211; has evolved into a peaceful place of cultural diversity that is full of life.<\/p>\n<p>On sunny days people from all different backgrounds meet here and create culture in a way that is unique to Mauerpark: in a spirit of tolerance, openness and respect for difference.<\/p>\n<p>Mauerpark has become a living memorial that is unparalleled anywhere in the world, acknowledging the past without being stuck in it. \u00a0Each person can experience the transformation that has taken place here and play a part in creating a peaceful future.<\/p>\n<p>Freunde des Mauerparks e.V. and some of the parties in Pankow\u2019s Borough Council are committed to preserving this special place.<\/p>\n<p>The following motions are scheduled for debate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mauerpark.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/BVV-Pankow-Mauerpark-Kulturstandort-VIII-0782.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Preserve Mauerpark as a cultural hotspot<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mauerpark.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/BVV-Pankow-Mauerpark-Karaoke-VIII-0780.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Safeguard the future of karaoke in Mauerpark<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mauerpark.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/BVV-Pankow-Mauerpark-Strassenmusik-VIII-0785.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reach agreement for street music in Mauerpark<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mauerpark.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/BVV-Pankow-Mauerpark-Hinterlandmauer-VIII-0787.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Legalise graffiti in Mauerpark<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These motions will be discussed during the Council\u2019s session on Wednesday, 27 March.
