The project is made possible by funding from the Allianz Environmental Foundation (4.5 million marks) and the federal state of Berlin (3 million marks).<\/li>\n<li>Autumn 1994: Inauguration of the first section of the park.<\/li>\n<li>1995: First construction on the fourth section: the youth farm.<\/li>\n<li>1998: Suspension of construction of the fourth section due to unresolved questions of property ownership.<\/li>\n<li>May 1999: Opening of what is today the Moritzhof youth farm.<\/li>\n<li>1999: Construction of the Rainbow Playground next to the birch grove.<\/li>\n<li>End of 1999: Deutsche Bahn takes over the construction costs for the fourth section.<\/li>\n<li>Through 2001: Construction freeze due to land dispute between Deutsche Bahn and the Berlin Senate.<\/li>\n<li>2002: After residents protest the construction freeze, construction of the sunken garden and the pastures and renovation of the Moritzhof youth farm continue.<\/li>\n<li>March 2004: Inauguration of the \u201cSchwedter Nordwand\u201d climbing wall.<\/li>\n<li>Through July 2004: Completion of the playground and inauguration of the fourth section.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1989: After the opening of the Berlin Wall (Mauer) on November 9, the \u201cdeath strip\u201d becomes accessible to all citizens 1990:\u00a0The Mauer is torn down; wild plants begin to take root. 1992:\u00a0Residents begin planting trees on the western edge of Falkplatz.
